ProfunEdu-X: Artificial Intelligence, Digital Education, and Mathematics: A Triad for VUCA Resilience

Hybrid, 10 Oktober 2024

VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) era has become an inevitable condition today that has to be faced by people worldwide. War, pandemic, fast-technological shift, and political condition today shows how things change very fast and put a demand to global citizen to adapt with the condition. To address the challenges of VUCA, organizations and individuals need to develop agility, resilience, and the ability to continuously learn and innovate. Moreover, cross-sector and interdisciplinary collaboration is key to overcoming the complexity and ambiguity encountered.
Looking at this condition, The Association of Educational Institutions for Teacher Training at Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah Universities (ALPTK-PTMA) sees the condition by conducting the international conference of Profunedu 2024 as a medium for educational experts, researchers, and partitioners to share their thoughts and findings regarding how the educational institution prepare their students to be ready for the VUCA era, so that they can compete to each other.

The 2024 ProfunEdu International Conference will discuss topics related to the VUCA era. It is crucial for higher education institutions to adapt to the rapid advancements of the VUCA era. This theme was chosen due to the recognized importance of initiating changes in the education sector, which is continuously evolving.

Ladies and gentlemen, to strengthen the quality of the conference, Profunedu 2024 has invites three prominent speakers. The first speaker is Rimajon Satlikova, Ph.D. from University of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The second speaker is Prof. Dr. Heris Hendriana from IKIP Siliwangi, Indonesia. The third speaker is Prof. Dr. Amirullah Abduh from Universitas Negeri Makassar, Indonesia. While to strengthen the publication quality, the conference has collaborated with two reputable publishers and five Scopus-indexed journals.

ALPTK-PTMA Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, expressed that the integration of AI, digital education, and mathematical thinking can provide robust solutions for future challenges. “In an era where change is the only constant, educators must embrace these fields to equip students with the tools they need to thrive in unpredictable circumstances,” he said.

One of the key features of the conference is its collaboration with two reputable international publishers and five Scopus-indexed journals, ensuring high-quality academic output. Researchers and practitioners from across the globe are presenting papers and sharing insights on innovative educational practices, focusing on how AI and digital technologies can enhance learning experiences and how mathematical modeling can help students navigate complex systems.

Through these collaborative efforts, ProfunEdu 2024 aims to set new standards in higher education, inspiring institutions to implement adaptive, technology-driven strategies in their curricula. As the global educational landscape continues to evolve, fostering agility, innovation, and resilience in students is no longer an option but a necessity.

On this occasion, Rimajon Sotlikova, Ph.D., as the first speaker, emphasized the importance of integrating critical thinking skills into language learning. With these critical thinking abilities, students will be able to apply their skills comprehensively and generate critical ideas that can be adapted to the VUCA era. In addition, the ability to collaborate also influences writing skills in current language learning. The use of AI in language learning also presents opportunities and challenges. Personalized Learning: AI tailors learning experiences to individual needs, fostering deeper understanding and engagement. Increased Accessibility: AI tools can bridge gaps in learning, providing support for diverse learners and addressing accessibility needs. Ethical Considerations: Responsible implementation of AI ensures fairness, privacy, and the responsible use of technology, he stated.

The integration of AI in education has become increasingly prominent, transforming the learning landscape. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Amirullah Abduh, Ph.D., presented the transformative potential of AI as a supporting tool for language learning and academic writing.

Prof. Dr. Heris Hendriana delivered an engaging presentation on the importance of mathematics in achieving success in the VUCA era. In his presentation, Prof. Hendriana emphasized that mathematical skills are essential for navigating the complex and uncertain challenges of today’s world. He explained how understanding mathematical concepts can assist individuals in making better decisions and formulating effective strategies amidst rapid changes.
“Mathematics is not just about numbers; it is a tool that can help us analyze situations and solve problems logically,” he stated. Prof. Hendriana also provided concrete examples of how the application of mathematics in various fields, such as business, technology, and social sciences, can offer a competitive advantage.

The conference is expected to spark new ideas, collaborations, and policies that will shape the future of education in a world that demands continuous adaptation. With the growing impact of AI and digital transformation, and the increasing relevance of mathematical problem-solving, ProfunEdu 2024 stands as a beacon for educational reform in the VUCA era.
